ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 85. Help for Tab character ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
A tab character is a single character that appears on the screen to be as many
as eight blank spaces.
Tab stops are invisible, stationary points on the screen that are located every
eight character spaces.
A tab may be inserted and deleted like any other character. When the Tab key
is pressed to insert a tab character in the text, enough blank space is
inserted to reach from the cursor location to the next tab stop. Any
characters to the right of the cursor are shifted to the right. If a tab
character is deleted, the text to the right of it will shift to the left.
As text is inserted or deleted to the left of a tab character, the size of the
tab character is automatically reduced or increased so that characters to the
right of the tab do not move. This characteristic helps you keep columns of
text aligned.
